India WPC certification
WPC (Wireless Planning&Coordination Wing) is a national broadcasting agency, which belongs to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. The company was founded in 1952, with its headquarters in New Delhi and other regional offices in Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta and Guwahati. The WPC’s main tasks are to issue amateur radio licences and to allocate and monitor spectrum. In addition, WPC is responsible for WPC ETA certification (WPC equipment type approval ETA) and other wireless certification.
According to the WPC’s guidelines, all wireless products operating in non-authorized frequency bands require the WPC’s Equipment Type Approval (ETA).
Compared with other certification types, WPC certification process is relatively simple. The applicant shall provide the RF test report i ssued by an approved testing laboratory (such as A2LA certification) and other mat erials (such as use manual, Indian representative/importer’s declaration letter, e tc.). The WPC (ETA) approval doesn’ require factory inspection.
The WPC certificate is valid throughout the product life cycle. If the product is modified, a new certificate must be requested.
