There are 457 kinds of products (hereinafter referred to as electrical products) under the control of Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law, all of which are named according to Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law.
Electrical products generally refer to the electrical products used to connect with AC100V or AC200V sockets indoors with power cord and components like power plugs, power cords, and other products like lithium ion rechargeable batteries, etc. The AC power adapter and power cord, which is used by Electrical products that can only be operated by using AC power adapters and power cords, may be subject to Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law, while electrical products connected with the adapter are not subject to Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law. In addition, for rechargeable products with built-in rechargeable batteries, their chargers, power cords of chargers, and lithium-ion rechargeable batteries may also be subject to Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law, while rechargeable products themselves are not subject to Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law.
Electrical supplies are divided into specific electrical appliances (also referred to as Category A) and non-specific electrical appliances
(also referred to as Category B). It should be noted that the obligations of two types of electrical appliances are different.

For non-specific electrical appliances, the law does not stipulate that PSE tests must be accepted at testing institutions designated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry such as JET, but the law requires that overseas electrical products imported by Japanese companies must comply with the technical standards of Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law, and overseas manufacturers must prove that their products meet the requirements of technical standards. If the product also needs to be carried out relevant PSE tests and has test data, you can apply to JET for commissioned testing.
About PES nameplate representation
Specific electrical appliances must be marked with the logo , the abbreviation of the inspection institution (such as JET, etc.), the company name of the Japanese importer, the product ratings, etc.
Non-specific electrical appliances need to be marked on the product with the logo , Japanese importer company name, product rating and other content.
PSE nameplate marking is not determined by overseas manufacturers alone, but is a marking obligation that Japanese importers must fulfill under Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law.
About S-JET certification
For products subject to Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law and products not subject to the law, you can apply for third-party certification services: JET S-mark certification, that is, S-JET certification.
S-ET certification services include testing of electrical product technical standards, audit of the quality management system of manufacturing plants, and only products that pass the test and audit can be marked with the S-JET certification mark. Although it is only a third-party certification system in Japan, it can play a role in promoting product safety and quality control for overseas manufacturers, and it is highly approved in the market. Therefore, S-JET certification is a third-party certification system worthy of choice.

The Four Product Safety Acts (Key Points)
✔ The government (METI) designates the products with potential hazards.
✔ The manufacturers and the importers of these products must notify METI before starting manufacturing or importing.
✔ METI obliges the notifying manufacturers and the notifying importers to comply with the technical requirements, “Technical Standards”, developed by the government.
✔ This process is “self confirmation” by the notifying manufacturers and importers. The notifying manufacturers and the importers can affix the ○PS-mark to products that comply with the standards.
✔ In addition to the self confirmation procedure, products which require the ◇PS-mark are subject to technical examination by registered Conformity assessment bodies (laboratories).
✔ The products designated in the Act are prohibited for sale without “PS mark” and the name of the notifying manufacturers/importers.
It aims at increasing public welfare by securing fair and efficient use of an electric wave.
The electric wave means an electromagnetic wave of frequency up to 3,000,000MHz.
Conformity certification body conduct the testing for specified radio equipment according to technical regulation, if pass, issue Certificate of Conformity, product labeled with conformity mark:
JET S-mark is applicable for products for which certification is desired undergo conformity testing (Description of the technical requirements by the METI Ordinance), and the method based on CENELEC is used to objectively confirm the quality control system of the factory where the product is manufactured.
By obtaining 
certification for products imported into Japan and displaying the mark on the products, a great confidence from consumers and distributors can be highly expected.
JET’s certification system is the system to carry out product testing to ensure conformity to JET’s certification testing standard prepared based on the Grid-interconnection Technical Requirement Guidelines(currently the Grid-interconnection Technical Requirement Guidelines on Quality of Electricity and the Official Interpretation of Technical Requirement of Electric Facilities under the Electricity Utilities Industry Law) and the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law etc., and also carry out a factory inspection to ensure that continued production of the products equivalent to this model is possible and then, issue the certification to the approved products.
Products eligible for certification include the following low-voltage grid-interconnection equipment, etc, utilizing inverter, etc.Products conform to requirements for Low-voltage grid-interconnection Protection.
Devices Operational Rule
▶For photovoltaic generation system, single-phase output less than 20 kW, and three-phase with output less than 50 kW (for multiple interaction type photovoltaic inverters, single-phase with output less than 20 kW, three-phase with output less than 50kW)
▶For gas engine cogeneration systems, output less than 10kW (for multiple interaction type, less than 10kW)
▶For stationary small fuel cell systems, output less than 10kW (for multiple interaction type, less than 10kW)
▶For charge / discharge systems for stationary lithium-ion storage battery, output of 10 kW or less (for multiple interaction type, 10 kW or less)
▶For multiple inputs of photovoltaic strings and stationary lithium-ion storage battery, output 10 kW or less.
▶For multiple inputs of gas engine cogeneration and stationary lithium-ion storage battery, output less than 10kW.
▶For multiple inputs of stationary residential-size fuel cell and stationary lithium-ion storage battery, output less than 10 kW.
▶For storage batteries (DC connection type) installed in electric vehicles, etc., output less than 10kW.
▶For multiple inputs of solar cells and storage batteries (DC connection type) installed in electric vehicles, etc., output less than 10 kW.
